Background
and Objectives: Prehypertension
increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Non-pharmacological
interventions like Yoga and Pranayama may help reduce blood pressure (BP) and pulse
rate (PR).
Materials
and Methods: Fifty
prehypertensive adults (32 females, 18 males; age 30–60 years) participated in
21 days of Yoga and Pranayama sessions (30 minutes/day, 6 days/week). SBP, DBP,
and PR were measured before and after intervention. Paired t-test was used for
analysis (p < 0.01).
Results: Significant reductions were observed in SBP
(130.20 ± 5.36 → 127.22 ± 6.55 mmHg; p < 0.001), DBP (83.40 ± 3.69 → 80.52 ±
7.92 mmHg; p = 0.009), and PR (76.60 ± 6.63 → 73.74 ± 7.06 bpm; p < 0.001).
