Author(s): Somappa Badiger, Dr. CR Bhairaddy
Abstract: The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of aerobic and yogic exercises on Cardiovascular Endurance of Badminton players. To achieve the purpose of the study, Forty five (45) intercollegiate Badminton players of Government degree colleges affiliated to Vijayanagara Sri Kirshnadevaraya University, Bellary State were selected randomly as subjects. Their age ranged from 18 to 24 years. The subjects were randomly assigned to three equal groups of 15 intercollegiate Badminton players. The study was confined to Cardiovascular Endurance. The cardiovascular endurance was tested with Cooper’s 12 Minutes Run/Walk recorded in meters. To find out the variance in the endurance due to the application of treatment, Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was applied and the level of significance was set at 0.01 level. The result indicated that experimental groups (Aerobic and Yogic exercises groups) were significantly improved the cardiovascular endurance when compared with the control group. The study concludes that yoga group had significantly improved the cardiovascular endurance than aerobic exercises group. The study suggested that the results would provide a scientific base and control to the coaches and physical educationists to design endurance training programme for sportsperson especially for Badminton players.
